Thusanang Trust
Thusanang Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe Western Diocese Trust (referred to in short as Thusanang) is the diaconal arm of the ELCZ Western Diocese. It was established in 1993 with support from the Church of Sweden to mitigate the effects of HiV/ AIDS in the communities. The motto for Thusanang is “putting your faith into action”
Adolescent and Young People Resilient Project
Thusanang is a registered Trust, involved in community development. It is currently involved in the implementation of an Adolescent and Young Peoples (AYP) project known as Adolescent and Young People Resilient Project in Gwanda District in 4 wards. These wards are 16, 17, 19 and 24.
The Adolescent and Young People Resilient Project envisions a society in which every adolescent survives and thrives, is protected from violence and exploitation, lives in a safe and clean environment, and every adolescent has an equitable chance in life.
The adolescents and young people resilient project seek to address challenges faced by Adolescents and Young People aged between 10-24 years. These challenges include early and unplanned pregnancies and marriages, maternal mortality among AYP, Gender Based Violence among AYP, HIV and STIs. The project seeks to address the SRHR challenges among the AYP through an innovative and novel approach that is targeting 200 adolescents girls and young women, as well as 150 boys and young men through the Sister to Sister Club mentorship model for adolescents girls and young women and the Brother-to-Brother Mentorship model for adolescents boys and young men.
Lutheran Communion in Southern Africa (LUCSA)
Thusanang is involved in the development of the ELCZ Western Diocese response to the fight against HIV and AIDS, TB and Malaria and other developmental issues such as Gender Justice, disasters and emergencies in the western dioceses, working with parishes through the offices of the Deans under and the Diocese Bishop.
